2026-07-22

The Goyang International Expo Foundation ( Chairman Min Kyung- sun ) announced that it has successfully completed the recruitment of participants for the " 2026 Goyang Flower City Citizen Flowerbed Creation Project " amidst high public interest and will proceed with the project in earnest.

The Foundation annually promotes a participatory project in which citizens directly plant and tend to flowers, creating floral landscapes throughout their living areas and expanding the value of ' Goyang, the City of Flowers . ' This year, approximately 200 citizens from 17 organizations, including administrative welfare centers, resident self-governing associations , village communities , and apartment management offices, are participating.

Participating organizations will be provided with a total of 50kg of yellow cosmos and zinnia seeds , along with guidance materials to assist with everything from sowing to growth management . Citizens are scheduled to prepare the target sites and sow the seeds by early next month, and the foundation plans to support stable flowering through subsequent on-site inspections and growth management.

The flower gardens created by citizens themselves are expected to begin blooming sequentially starting this coming September , reaching their peak in early October when the 2026 Goyang Autumn Flower Festival is held, presenting an abundant autumn flower landscape throughout the city.

Lee Chang-hyun, CEO of the Goyang International Expo Foundation, said, " This project is meaningful in the process itself, where citizens directly sow and cultivate flower seeds to fill vacant lots in their neighborhoods with flowers, " adding, " We will actively support the project by managing it together with participating organizations from sowing to blooming so that beautiful flower gardens can be enjoyed throughout Goyang this autumn .
